Penguins Drop Horizon League Home Opener To Cleveland State

Streetsboro, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Cleveland State on Saturday at the Western Reserve Racquet Club.

With the loss, the Penguins fall to 4-14 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League while the Vikings improve to 9-7 and 3-0.

In doubles play, the Pengins lost 6-1 at No. 3 before Lucia Zagar and Elvira Esteo earned a 7-5 win. CSU earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 to clinch the point.

YSU trailed 2-0 after the Vikings picked up a win at No. 6 singles. Lisa Khamassi got the Penguins a straight set win at No. 2 singles.

CSU went in front 3-1 following a straight-set win at No. 3. The clinching victory came at No. 5 in three sets. The Vikings won in three sets at No. 1 and No. 4.

YSU is next in action next Saturday when it hosts Detroit Mercy in Streetsboro.
