The Youngstown State women's tennis team will play three matches in three days at UNLV's Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex starting on Friday. YSU will play duals against UNLV, Weber State and UTEP on its trip to Vegas.

On Friday, YSU (2-3) takes on UNLV (2-2) at 1 p.m. The Penguins play the Wildcats (2-2) at 1 p.m. on Saturday and conclude the trip with a match against the Miners (1-2) on Sunday. During the event, all three schools will play a round-robin style format.

The Penguins will be without their No. 1 player, Imaan Hassim, who is playing for her native South Africa at the FedCup in Luxembourg this week. Hassim is 2-3 this spring with wins over Dayton and Saint Francis.

Last time YSU took the court, it earned a 7-0 win at Dayton for its second dual victory of the season.

Leading the way for the Penguins has been Lucia Zagar. Zagar owns a 5-0 dual record playing at No. 5 and No. 6 in the lineup. Notably, she has played three three-set matches so far this spring. Tamara Teufl ranks second on the team this spring with three dual wins. She will most likely move up to No. 1 to fill Hassim's spot in the three matches.

Series Notes

  • The Penguins have played at UNLV each of the past three seasons. The Rebels have won the previous three contests by 4-0 scores.
  • YSU will be playing Weber State and UTEP for the first time in school history.
