Khokhlova Wins Singles Flight to Lead YSU at Rockets Invitational

Toledo, Ohio - Youngstown State sophomore Anastasiia Khokhlova won the No. 2 Flight singles title to lead the Penguins women's tennis team at the Toledo Rockets Invitational which was held on Friday and Saturday.

Khokhlova defeated Toledo's Eileen Carney 6-1, 6-1; Oakland's Dasha Artamonova 6-2, 6-3 and Duquesne's Priyanka Mitta 6-2, 6-0 to earn the title at the No. 2 spot.

At No. 3, Tamara Teufl defeated Duquesne's Aishwarya Kona 3-6, 7-6, 10-4 and Oakland's Samantha Galloway 6-3, 6-2. Teufl's lone defeat came in three sets to Toledo's Kokoro Chishaki - 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.

Cassandra Moraleja beat Toledo's Kiersten Carlson 6-3, 6-1 and Oakland's Alexandra Whall 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 before dropping her final match against Duquesne.

Luica Zagar defeated Oakland's Sofia Borcuti 6-3, 6-4 to round out the singles wins for the Penguins. 

YSU is next in action at the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
