YSU Battles Before Falling Short at Wright State

Cedarville, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Wright State on Saturday afternoon at the Cedarville University Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The Penguins won three of the six singles matches after suffering a tough defeat in doubles., which proved to be the difference in the match. Overall, the tough-break Penguins dropped their fourth straight 4-3 decision.

In doubles, YSU picked up a win at No. 1 as Imann Hassim and Tamara Teufl won 6-3, but the Penguins suffered 7-6 setbacks at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles as the Raiders battled back to earn the point.

The Guins claimed the first two singles wins as Lucia Zagar won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 and Teufl won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. WSU earned straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 2 to take a 3-2 lead in the match. 

The Penguins tied the contest up when Hassim overcame a 6-0 loss in the first set to win 6-3, 6-0 over Andreea Craciun. The deciding match came at No. 4. Cassandra Moraleja lost her first set 6-3 before winning the second 6-4. However, Jillian Milano won the last set 6-0 to secure the win for the Raiders.

The Penguins are back in action on Friday when they play host to UIC in Streetsboro.
