The Youngstown State volleyball program will host three events as well as an experience day and a skills clinic during its spring schedule that runs the first four weeks of April.

The Penguins will begin their spring season by hosting a nine-team tournament at Stambaugh Stadium on April 6 that will start at 9 a.m. YSU will welcome Akron, Cleveland State, Gannon, Malone, Robert Morris, Saint Francis U, Walsh and Wheeling Jesuit on to the tournament where each team will play six matches. The Penguins and Zips will play again on April 17 at 7:30 p.m., and YSU will host a tri-match with Cleveland State and Toledo on April 20 beginning at 10 a.m. Those matches will each be played in Beeghly Center.

Youngstown State will host a Student-Athlete Experience Day in conjunction with its match against Akron on April 17. The event is open to female students in eighth grade and older, and it will include a tour of campus and YSU’s athletic facilities as well as a 90-minute volleyball training session. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the match against the Zips will be at 7:30 p.m. The registration fee is $30, which includes the meal and a parking pass. Online registration is available at penguinsvolleyballcamps.com.

Females in grades eight and up are also invited to participate in an all-skills clinic that will be held on April 24 in Beeghly Center. Participants will interact with YSU coaches and student-athletes, and they’ll receive instruction in proper technique for different skills and compete in challenging drills applicable to game situations. The clinic will last from 5-7 p.m. and will cost $20. Online registration is available at penguinsvolleyballcamps.com.
