Milwaukee hit .310 as a team and collected 76 digs to beat the Youngstown State volleyball team on Saturday afternoon at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins got 10 kills and 12 digs from Margaux Thompson, who started at outside hitter instead of libero for the first time in nearly a month. Alexia Byrnes also had a double-double with 16 assists and 12 digs, and Aleah Hughes had five kills and 11 digs. Erin Kalahar totaled five blocks.
Makenzie Mroczenski had 10 kills in 18 attempts, and three other Panthers had at least eight kills. Milwaukee improved to 17-1 for the season and won for the 14th straight match, which is tied for the longest winning streak in the NCAA this season.
Youngstown State has two more Horizon League matches in an odd scheduling week next week. The Penguins will play at IUPUI on Wednesday and host Green Bay on Friday at 6 p.m. Volleyball alumni interested in attending YSU's Homecoming match against the Phoenix should RSVP to assistant coach McKenzie Reese at email@example.com.
