Buffalo, N.Y. - The Youngstown State women's cross country team placed four runners in the top nine at the Canisus Alumni Open on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo. For the men, freshman Tyler Polman placed eighth to lead the way.
Michelle Klim paced the Penguins with a third-place finish running a time of 18:39.6 in the 5K event. Placing fifth was Natalie Fleming with a time of 18:56.3, seventh was Ashleigh Rowley with a time of 19:07.9 and finishing in ninth place was Jennifer Muhlenkamp with a time of 19:16.8.
In the women's standing, Canisius won the event with a 30, while the Penguins were second scoring 38 points. YSU finished ahead of Horizon League foe Detroit Mercy at the meet.
Polman led the men once again running a 8K time of 25:51.0. The Guins placed fourth with a score of 98 while Buffalo won the event with a 28.
The Penguins are next in action two weeks from today at the Horizon League Championships in Michigan.
