Rochester, Mich. - The Youngstown State women's and men's cross country teams competed at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday.
The women had five runners place in the top 50 en route to a seventh-place finish while the men had five finish in the top 55.
For the women, senior Michelle Klim finished with a time of 23:25.3 to place 20th while freshman Ashleigh Rowley ran a time of 23:27.6 to finish 21st. Other top finishers for the Penguins were Natalie Fleming who was 35th (23:45.9), Jennifer Muhlenkamp who finished 42nd (24:09.3) and Morgan Ansell who was 48th (24:24.6).
For the men, freshman Tyler Polman had a strong HL Championships debut placing 25th with a time of 26:49.1. Other finishers for the Penguins were Sean Peterson (46th with a 27:36.3), Derek Basinger (50th with a 27:40), Cole Lovett (53rd with a 27:59.7) and C.J. Schumacher (55th with a 28:58.9).
In the overall standings, the women were seventh while men were ninth.
