Men's Cross Country Moves Up to 12th in USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Poll

After another impressive showing at the Auto Owners/Playmakers Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State last Friday, the Youngstown State men's cross country team climbed two spots to No. 12 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Region Poll.

The Penguins, who were No. 14 last week, finished fifth out of 21 teams at the Spartan invitational and had two runners finish in the top 10 for the second straight week.

Senior Ryan Sullivan placed fourth with a time of 25:09.8 and was the top attached Division I finisher in the race, and senior Alan Burns posted a time of 25:22.8 and finshed eighth ahead of runners from Michigan State and Michigan.

YSU also won the Tommy Evans Invitational on Sept. 8 in Akron, Ohio.

Youngstown State is idle this week and returns to action, Friday, Sept. 28, at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind.
