Women's Cross Country Set to Compete at Disney World Classic; Men Now 10th

The Youngstown State women's cross country team will be in action at the Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday. The men's team, which is idle this week, moved up to No. 10 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region poll.

Fleming Sets PB at ND
Sophomore Natalie Fleming set a personal-best time of 18:31.74 to lead the Penguins to a 12th-place finish at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational last weekend. Her time is also the 15th-best time in the women's 5K in program history.

Top 10 Again
Seniors Alan Burns and Ryan Sullivan each placed in the top 10 for the third straight race this season. Burns finished seventh with a personal-best time of 24:46.02, which ranks fourth on the YSU men's 8K list. Sullivan ran a 24:47.65 and finshed eighth.

Last Time at Disney
Last season, the women finished third with 68 points and had three top-25 finishers. Natalie Fleming finished 20th with a time of 19:24.0 while Ashleigh Rowley was 23rd with a 19:25.7. 

Women Post Personal Bests
Five runners posted personal-best times at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. Natalie Fleming turned in a personal-best time of 18:31.74, which ranks 15th in school history in the 5K run. Maggie Sebest posted a time of 18:44.21 while Jennifer Muhlenkamp ran a time of 18:57.23.  Casey Zaitzew recorded a time of 19:20.03 and Morgan Buckley posted a time of 19:22.65.

Next week, the Youngstown State women's cross country team head to the Canisius Alumni Open and the men's team heads to Pre-Nationals at the University of Wisconsin. Both teams race on Saturday, Oct. 13.
