2011 | Senior: Named Second-Team All-Horizon League... Led the Horizon League in strikeouts with 105 in 92.1 innings (10.2 per nine innings)... Went 5-5 with a 3.61 ERA... In league games, went 2-2 with a 2.61 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 51.2 innings... His 105 strikeouts are the second-most by a Penguin in a single season... Former first-round draft pick Brad Hennessey had 126 in 2001... Set YSU's single season record for games started by a pitcher with 15... Set new career highs in games started, innings, strikeouts, ERA and batting average against (.244)... Earned Academic All-Horizon League accolades... 2010 | Junior: Appeared in 17 games and made 11 starts... Was 2-4 with a 6.51 ERA... Aside from a three-start rough patch from April 25 to May 8, he had a 4.71 ERA... Struck out 57 batters while walking 26 in 65 innings... Struck out 7.9 batters per nine innings... Earned wins against Walsh and Butler... Allowed two earned runs in five innings while fanning five against Walsh on March 14... Also allowed five runs in five innings to defeat Butler on March 27...n Had his best start at Saint Joseph’s when he struck out 10 batters while allowing just four hits in 5.2 innings... His ERA stood at 3.92 after that start, and it was still at 4.43 on April 17... Did not allow an earned run in either of his final two outings, both of which were in relief in the Horizon League Tournament... Left with leads of at least three runs against both Saint Joseph's and UIC but did not factor in the decision... His first two losses came when YSU was shut out against Valparaiso and scored one run against Le Moyne.
2009 | Sophomore: Made 11 starts and made six appearances out of the bullpen... Named First-Team All-Horizon League, joining Aaron Swenson as back-to-back Penguin hurlers to earn first-team honors... Went 5-2 with a 4.62 ERA overall... Was 5-1 with a save and a 4.19 ERA during the regular season... Finished 4-0 with a 3.83 ERA in Horizon League regular season contests... Developed into a power pitcher, striking out 80 batters in 76 innings... Fanned 61 in 56.1 innings in conference games... Struck out 38 in his final 29 innings... His 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings led all Horizon League starters... Won five consecutive decisions from April 5 to May 13, including earning the win each of the last three times he took the mound in the regular season... Struck out 22 batters in 13.2 innings in his final two regular season starts - both came against Valparaiso... Fanned 10 in 6.2 innings at Valpo on May 2... 2008 | Freshman: Went 1-1 with an 11.09 ERA in 18.2 innings... Made nine appearances, three of which were starts... Surrendered just three extra-base hits but walked 19... The Penguins went 2-1 in his three starts... Made his collegiate debut at Georgia Tech, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings (Feb. 22)... Rebounded to throw a scoreless inning at Alabama (March 9)... Made his first start against Xavier and earned his first career victory... Allowed one run on four hits and struck out a season-high five batters in 6.1 innings (March 13)... Also started at Akron, allowing four runs in 3.2 innings in a losing effort (March 26)... Allowed two runs and struck out four in three innings against Duquesne (April 2)... Did not take the mound after May 9.
High School: Was a two-year letterwinner for the Golden Lions... Was Lincoln’s ace his senior year, going 4-2 with a 1.92 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched...
