Youngstown State senior forward Heidi Schlegel has been named Preseason First-Team All-Horizon League by College Sports Madness in the website's conference preview.
Schlegel, who was a first-team all-conference pick a year ago, is among the Horizon League's top four returning players in points per game, rebounds per game, field-goal percentage and free-throw percentage. The Wapakoneta, Ohio, native averaged career highs of 20 points and eight rebounds in 2013-14 while setting school records for points by a junior and free throws made.
Schlegel was joined on the first team by Preseason Player of the Year Kim Demmings from Wright State, Green Bay's Kaili Lukan, Cleveland State's Imani Gordon and UIC's Ruvanna Campbell. Schlegel, Demmings, Gordon and Campbell were First-Team All-Horizon League last season while Lukan was a second-team selection. College Sports Madness named Green Bay's Tesha Buck, Cleveland State's Cori Coleman, Oakland's Elena Popkey, Detroit's Taylor McCalister and Valparaiso's Sharon Karungi to its preseason second team.
