Deleah Gibson, a guard from Cleveland, Ohio, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Youngstown State women's basketball program, Penguins head coach John Barnes announced on Tuesday.

Gibson graduated from Shaw High School this spring and will be active on YSU's 2018-19 team.

"We're excited to add someone with Deleah's abilities this late in the recruiting process," Barnes said. "Deleah is a very athletic guard who has a great ability to create her own shot. She's a good shooter who also has the ability to create opportunities for her teammates."

"We're also thrilled about adding another player from our region, which always helps bring excitement to Beeghly Center," Barnes added.

Gibson was an honorable mention selection on the Northeast Lakes All-District Division I team as a senior. A two-time team captain, she was a nominee for the 2018 McDonald's All American Games and played in the 3rdcoasthoops All-Star Game. In the classroom, Gibson was an honor roll student.

Gibson will be one of four true freshmen on Youngstown State's roster in the upcoming season. She joins fall signees Gabby Lupardus, Madison Mallory and Taylor Petit. The Penguins have also added Division I transfers Ny'Dajah Jackson and Emma VanZanten, who must sit out 2018-19, this offseason.
